Kitten update

So, the kittens have been growing.  They have been working their way out of their box and are becoming some serious climbers.  We moved the "room and board" out to the barn last week.  However, Daisy has disappeared the last few days...which is very unusual.

Yesterday we decided to try to feed the kittens some milk...which is so foreign to them.  But they have started to drink some.  We also moved them from barn back to the garage in fear that Daisy might have been attacked by a 'coon in the barn...and the kittens would be next.

So, even as I type this, I can hear them meowing (constantly) in the garage as they are climb all over the garage...even trying to get up to the back door...which one little guy can easily do.

The video below will show how fast they are even though their walking is still unstable!

The grass was green...not blue

Jake has wanted to hear some bluegrass music. So, we have been searching for a festival of some sort and thought we would scout out one in Kentucky...just over the Ohio border in Cincy. The festival was located right along the river at a little park with a playground area.  So we got to watch some boats (of all kinds) and even see a couple barges go by...

Joe watches a barge...

We laughed as the DJ said he was sorry about the weather...because it was the most perfect Fall day to be outside enjoying the weather.   So, we set down our blanket and enjoyed the music...and some card games.

Now, don't be deceived by this cute little face...he has learned how to play some serious UNO.  (Here he had just played a tough move on Dad!...and then smirked about it!)

Now, this face is the face of one pondering his options.  He is growing to be the thinker that (like Dad) wants to win with everything in him...no matter how that might make you feel! :)

The boys wanted to use my camera.  So, we took some pictures...as we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon!

Protected

There are times in my journey as a mom (a mom of boys, in particular) that I just notice something and have to laugh.  I thought I'd share this one with you.

I come down in the dark every morning and find my way to the recliner to read my Bible.  I've gotten so used to finding my way to the lamp over the years that I don't think much about it.
Well, this week, Joe decided to bring out the army guys and set it up across the end table and chair. And I couldn't help but laugh one morning as I sat reading my Bible and looked up at the end table where a full army was protecting me...high and low, near and far...as I read.
I felt very safe to say the least!

And...

In case you didn't notice this with the boys' soccer jerseys this year....their number was their age!

Blasting off...part 2

The day finally came.  We finally got the rocket glued and ready for lift off.  We headed to the high school practice field so we could benefit from a wide open space.

making the connections

Launch #1...Jake counting down

preparing for Launch #2

Joe and Jake counted down the second launch and Joe got to hit the button this time.  It launched pretty high into the air.  (Still searching for the video I took)   We have some things we are going to try to adjust before our next launch.
       But we all enjoyed watching!

Blasting off

For Cub Scouts, Jake was to take a "space derby kit" and turn it into what he wanted to use to compete in a race against other created "rockets".  So, Jake designed his rocket on paper so he and Dad could be on the same page.
Then, they headed out to the power tools to speed up the sanding process.  After glueing pieces together, Jake set out to the task of painting his "Shark Rocket".  He added some stickers (see if you can figure any of the represented numbers...42, 38, 5, 7).  And he flew his rocket at Cub Scouts.
It did well in its heat...placing second.  And Jake was proud of his work.  (Now he's ready to do a pine derby car!)
