Cake time

 "I'm so excited!" was a common phrase we heard multiple times each day as we neared Joe's 6th birthday.  Grammie and Grandpa were coming.  His birthday was coming.  His first swim meet was coming.  All in three days!   "I'm so excited!" 

 Joe helped make his birthday cake frosting (so he could help lick the beaters, of course). 

   Grandpa wanted to get a good look at Joe on Tuesday night (June 3rd) before Joe went to bed...!  Grandpa wanted to be sure he could tell if Joe looked older the next day!

 It was a stormy birthday with rain and clouds all day.  But he declared at the end of the day that he really enjoyed his birthday! :)

Go Fish

   We spent an afternoon fishing recently.  It was hot...until the storm rolled in and cooled things off.  During the storm, we cooked and ate dinner since we brought along the charcoal grill.  But we still didn't catch anything the whole time we were there. 
   However, we did see (and hear) frogs...a turtle...jumping fish...minnows galore...  and we enjoyed a relaxing time together!
